About Paradise Springs Winery Santa Barbara
Paradise Springs bills itself as the first bicoastal winery brand in the United States, and the claim is literal: the family operation of Jane Kincheloe and her son Kirk Wiles founded Fairfax County, Virginia's first winery in 2007 on a historic Clifton property, then expanded west to Santa Barbara. The Funk Zone tasting room pours both coasts side by side, a genuine rarity.
The California program, produced in Buellton, runs about 1,500 cases focused on the Sta. Rita Hills and Happy Canyon AVAs, spanning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Bordeaux varieties, while dedicated Virginia flights let the curious taste the East Coast's rising wine scene without leaving State Street.
The room itself is one of lower State Street's liveliest hangs: open daily from noon to 9, no reservations needed, with a big sunny patio, a putting green, a food truck on site, a DJ every Saturday afternoon and weekly bingo nights, plus a by-appointment Private Cellar tasting with cheese pairings for those wanting the quiet version.
