Passaggio Wines, Carneros Winery & Tasting Room

Passaggio Wines has no genuine Napa Valley connection. It was founded in 2007 by Cindy (Cynthia) Cosco, a former Virginia law-enforcement officer who moved to California in 2004 and trained as a winemaker at Crushpad in San Francisco. The winery has always been based in Sonoma County -- originally Glen Ellen, later a stint on San Francisco's Treasure Island around 2021 -- and is currently operating a tasting room at 14301 Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen's Jack London Village.

Passaggio built its identity on an unoaked Chardonnay and has since expanded into a 'New Generation' series of experimental whites, rosés, reds, and sparkling wines; its 2014 New Generation Sauvignon Blanc earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast. Production runs around 1,700 cases annually. Every current source -- the winery's own site, Sonoma County Tourism, the Sonoma Valley Chamber, and Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers -- lists it strictly as a Sonoma Valley/Glen Ellen producer.
