About Peacock Family Vineyard
Peacock Family Vineyard is a small estate at 3100 Spring Mountain Road in St. Helena, within the Spring Mountain District AVA -- not Coombsville. Chris and Betsy Peacock purchased the 47-acre property from the Raymond family in 1991; Chris, who came from backgrounds in theology, philanthropy, and fine arts, described wanting to 'go back to the land' and combine that with fine winemaking. The Peacocks initially sold fruit to Spring Mountain neighbors (Barnett Winery produced a Peacock Vineyard-designate wine in 1997 and 1999) before releasing their own Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999.
Winemaker Craig Becker made Peacock's wines from 1999 until his death in 2024, when longtime assistant Cody Hurd took over production at Somerston Estate. The winery focuses on hillside, single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from its 6.2-acre estate block, farmed with natural techniques and aged in French oak; it also bottles a Sauvignon Blanc, a Rosé, and a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Daughter Rebecca Peacock joined as proprietor in 2013 after 15 years running a French fashion boutique, and annual production is roughly 700 cases, with visits limited largely to collectors and club members.
