About Penner-Ash Wine Cellars
Lynn Penner-Ash founded her namesake winery in 2000 after years as head winemaker at Rex Hill, bringing deep experience with Willamette Valley terroir and a particular passion for restraint and vineyard expression. The estate vineyards, on a hilltop in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, offer some of the most dramatic views in the Willamette Valley — rolling vineyard blocks sweeping down to the valley floor with the Coast Range visible on clear days.
The Pinot Noirs are sourced from multiple vineyards across the Willamette Valley, giving Lynn the ability to blend for complexity and consistency while also producing single-vineyard bottlings from distinguished sites including Zena Crown, Shea, and the estate itself. The house style emphasizes restraint, texture, and the kind of aromatics that reward slow attention rather than immediate gratification.
Uniquely for the Willamette Valley, Penner-Ash also excels with Syrah and Viognier — Rhône varieties that the estate sources from southern Oregon sites better suited to their warmth requirements. These wines are some of the most overlooked in Oregon and represent exceptional value for what they offer.
