About Rexford Winery Capitola
This is Rexford's second and newer tasting room, on Capitola Avenue in the middle of the village, pouring the same wines the Millers make at their Ingalls Street cellar in Santa Cruz.
The two rooms feel nothing alike. The westside cellar puts you among the tanks with the smell of fermentation in the air; Capitola is calm and unhurried, with a view over the goings-on of the village below and a quilt on the wall that visitors tend to notice first.
It also solves a real Capitola problem by coming with its own parking space, which anyone who has circled the village on a summer weekend will appreciate.
The wines are Joe and Sam Miller's small-lot, single-vineyard bottlings: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Merlot and others, kept separate by site. Sam is often the one behind the bar.
The same single-vineyard wines as the Ingalls Street cellar, poured somewhere considerably calmer.
