About Robledo Family Winery

Robledo Family Winery holds a distinction shared by no other winery in American history: it was founded by a former migrant farmworker. Reynaldo Robledo Sr. came to Sonoma County from Michoacán, Mexico in 1968 at the age of 16, speaking no English and carrying nothing but a willingness to work. He spent 30 years learning every aspect of viticulture and vineyard management, eventually becoming a respected vineyard manager responsible for some of Sonoma County's most celebrated estate vineyards, before achieving the dream that drove everything: opening his own winery.

In 2003, Reynaldo opened the Robledo Family Winery in Carneros, becoming the first winery in American history founded by a migrant farmworker. The story attracted national attention and a visit from then-Senator Barack Obama, who toured the winery during a 2006 California campaign swing. His nine children, most of whom work in the business, have made the winery a multigenerational family enterprise that embodies both the California Dream and the specific Mexican-American agricultural heritage that has shaped Sonoma County wine country.

The wines reflect the family's Carneros and Los Carneros terroir expertise: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc produced from estate and sourced fruit with the farming knowledge accumulated over 30 years of Sonoma County vineyard management.
