About Rodney Strong Vineyards
Rodney Strong Vineyards is one of Sonoma County's pioneering wine estates and one of the first to be certified sustainable in California. Rodney Strong — a former dancer and choreographer who redirected his precision and creative energy into winemaking — founded the winery in 1959 and built it into one of Sonoma County's most recognizable estate brands before selling to the Klein family in 1989.
The Klein family has expanded and improved the estate substantially: the barrel caves, production facility, and tasting room complex represent one of Sonoma County's most architecturally significant winery buildings, combining modernist design with working winery functionality in a campus that attracts visitors as much for the architecture and estate grounds as for the wines. The Brothers Vineyard Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon — from estate blocks first planted in the 1970s — is the estate's most celebrated wine, consistently earning 90–95 points for its warm-climate structure and food-friendly depth.
The Klein family's commitment to 100% certified sustainable farming across all estate vineyards makes Rodney Strong one of Sonoma County's most environmentally committed large-production estate producers — a distinction that the brand has held continuously since earning California's first sustainable certification.
