About Rotta Winery
Rotta is a living piece of Central Coast history, one of Paso Robles' three original wineries, with roots on this Templeton land reaching back to the 1850s. Bought by the Swiss-Italian Rotta family in 1908, it was one of the few California wineries to keep operating through Prohibition, and it remains best known for Zinfandel and its singular Black Monukka, a sherry-meets-port dessert wine that is a Rotta exclusive.
Beyond the Zinfandel and Black Monukka, expect Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, and other reds, with a tasting room partly built from wood salvaged from the original winery. Now carried forward by a family committed to honoring its storied past, Rotta is worth seeking out for anyone who wants to taste Paso's heritage in the glass.
