About ROY Estate
Roy Estate traces to 1999, when Charles and Shirley Roy purchased a small property on Soda Canyon Road in Napa. Charles, a Massachusetts-born civil engineer, passed away in 2010; Shirley continued running the estate until selling it in 2017 to current managing partners Stephan Crétier and Stephanie Maillery, with Shirley remaining on as brand ambassador.
Winemaker Philippe Melka has crafted every vintage since the inaugural 2005 release, working with 17 estate acres planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot across two distinct soil types, thin, lava-covered hillside soils and deeper loam. Production stays under roughly 1,500 cases a year across an estate Cabernet Sauvignon, the Mr. Evans proprietary red blend, and the rare, limited-run La Rêveuse.
Roy Estate produces under 1,500 cases a year from 17 acres on Soda Canyon Road, with every vintage since 2005 made by winemaker Philippe Melka.
