About Roy Piper Wines
Roy Piper left a finance career at AIG in 2005 to pursue winemaking, starting as a cellar worker at Quintessa under winemaker Aaron Pott before becoming assistant winemaker at Seven Stones. After declassifying experimental wines made from 2006 to 2009, he released his first commercial vintage in 2010 under his own name.
Piper Cellars LLC produces just 300 to 500 cases a year across only two wines, a Cabernet Franc from the Oak Knoll District and a Cabernet Sauvignon-based Napa Valley blend, sourced in part from the Moulds Family Vineyard, whose grower Steve Moulds was named Napa Valley's 2018 Grower of the Year. The winery is private, with no public tasting room, and sells almost entirely through a release list that typically sells out within weeks.
