About Saint Croix Vineyards
Saint Croix Vineyards is one of Minnesota's most established wineries, founded in 1992 by owners Paul Quast, Peter Hemstad, and Chris Aamodt just west of scenic Stillwater. The tasting room occupies a restored century-old barn that sets the tone for the visit: rustic, genuine, and deeply rooted in the agricultural heritage of the St. Croix Valley. Peter Hemstad is notably connected to the University of Minnesota's grape breeding program, giving Saint Croix a direct line to the science behind the cold-hardy varieties that have made Minnesota winemaking possible. The vineyard grows these varieties on-site, and the wines are crafted with a winemaker's understanding of what the grapes can and should become. Visitors can stroll through the picturesque vineyards, sample wines in the barn tasting room, and experience one of the longer-running wine operations in the state.
The proximity to Stillwater, with its restaurants, antique shops, and St. Croix River views, makes Saint Croix Vineyards a natural anchor for a day trip from the Twin Cities.
