About Schermeister Winery
Schermeister Winery is a tiny, owner-operated winery in the charming hamlet of Glen Ellen, just ten minutes north of downtown Sonoma but feeling worlds away. It's the project of winemaker Rob Schermeister and his artist-designer wife Laura, who launched it in 2012 with an inaugural Carneros Pinot Noir.
Before striking out on his own, Rob honed his craft under cult producers Mark Aubert and Jayson Pahlmeyer, and he brings that pedigree to a low-intervention, native-fermentation approach: the wines are 100% wild-yeast fermented, unfined, unfiltered, sustainably farmed and vegan-friendly, sourced from some of Wine Country's finest vineyards. Pinot Noir is the heart of it, joined by Cabernet, Syrah, Chardonnay and more, all in very small quantities.
What makes a visit special is that you taste with Rob himself, in a cozy creekside studio in the historic Jack London Village, often paired with artisan chocolates and a complimentary aroma bar. Family- and dog-friendly, with walk-ins welcome and reservations appreciated, the kind of intimate, personal tasting that's increasingly rare.
