About Scribe Winery

Scribe Winery is one of California's most distinctive and visually celebrated wine estates. Brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani — whose grandfather farmed the Sonoma Valley land for decades — established Scribe in 2007 on a 250-acre organic estate centered on a historic 1920s hacienda that has been painstakingly restored as the most architecturally striking tasting destination in the Sonoma Valley.

The vineyard history runs even deeper: the land was first planted to grapes in 1858, and the Mariani brothers have committed to biodynamic farming that honors that 160-year agricultural heritage. The estate produces Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Sylvaner from the Sonoma Valley-Carneros terrain, applying a Burgundian and Alsatian philosophy to varieties that few other California producers take equally seriously.

The hacienda restoration — a project spanning years of careful work — has become as celebrated as the wines. Picnicking on the hacienda's gardens, exploring the estate grounds, and tasting in the atmospheric old buildings creates an experience that the New York Times, Bon Appétit, and Food & Wine have all called one of the finest wine country visits available in California. The appointment-only model ensures genuine hospitality at every visit.
