About Six Peaks Winery

The Albin family planted their first vineyard atop Bald Peak in 1981, which puts them among the earlier growers in this part of the Chehalem Mountains. The winery operated for years as J. Albin Winery before taking the name Six Peaks, drawn from the panorama off the vineyard: five Cascade summits visible on a clear day, from the hill you are standing on.

It remains a family operation. John and Lynn Albin founded it and their son Andrew works alongside them. Production is small-lot and handcrafted, with Pinot Noir and sparkling wine at the centre.

The range is broader than the estate alone would allow, because they buy in fruit as well as growing it. Alongside estate Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris there is Sauvignon Blanc, rose, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, drawing on the Chehalem Mountains, the wider Willamette Valley and the Walla Walla Valley. Visitors regularly note the relief of finding something other than Pinot and Chardonnay on the flight.

Tastings are poured on the east side of the barn looking out over the vineyard, and the view is the thing people write about afterwards. Parking is in the cul-de-sac.

Planted in 1981 atop Bald Peak, with five Cascade summits on the horizon and the sixth underfoot.
