About Strange Family Vineyards
Strange Family Vineyards began when Brian and Shamra Strange found a neglected Drum Canyon property in the Sta. Rita Hills, its old vineyard so overgrown the vines had disappeared beneath the weeds, and set about reviving it as a family. Today the 20-acre estate grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the AVA's foggy mornings and diatomaceous soils, farmed with organic, sustainable and regenerative practices.
Sparkling wine is the calling card: traditional-method Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs and Brut Rose alongside estate still Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a rare Pinot Noir Blanc, wines meant, in the family's words, for the everyday celebration of life.
Visitors can taste at the estate on Drum Canyon Road on weekends and by private appointment, with the family home and historic barn overlooking the vines, and in 2025 the family opened a botanical-themed tasting room in Los Olivos complete with a secluded Bubble Lounge for special flights, bringing the sparkle to the village daily.
