About Taylor Family Vineyards
Jerry Taylor, a fifth-generation Napa County resident whose family had lived in the area since 1867, raised in the town of Monticello before it was razed in the 1950s to make way for Lake Berryessa, bought this Stags Leap District property with his wife Pat in 1976. For decades the family simply sold their grapes to neighboring wineries, including Silverado Vineyards, Pine Ridge, and Robert Mondavi Winery, before producing their first estate vintage in 2002.
Consulting winemaker Gustavo Brambila, who worked alongside Mike Grgich at Chateau Montelena and is featured in the film Bottle Shock about the 1976 Judgment of Paris, has crafted Taylor Family's Cabernet Sauvignon since that first vintage. Now in its seventh generation, the family still manages every part of the roughly 2,200-case operation themselves, from vineyard replanting to winemaking, hosting guests for intimate tastings on the family's own back porch.
