About Terra Valentine Winery
Terra Valentine Winery combines two concepts in one name: terra (the Latin for 'earth,' the ground, the specific soil and geological material from which wine grows) and Valentine (the saint of love, whose name has become synonymous with the act of expressing deep affection). Together, the name declares an estate built on love of the earth and the belief that wine is one of the most direct expressions of that love.
Angus and Margaret Wurtele's Spring Mountain estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon from volcanic and sedimentary mountain soils at high elevation — the diurnal temperature swings and ancient volcanic substrate of the Spring Mountain District creating wines of unusual mineral concentration and structural elevation. The estate wine cave adds the underground dimension to the terra philosophy: wine aged within the earth itself.
Wine Advocate has scored Terra Valentine's Spring Mountain Cabernet at 91–94 points.
