About Textbook Vineyards
Textbook Vineyards is named for the textbook — the definitive teaching reference, the source that establishes what a thing is supposed to look like at its most classical and instructive. Matt and Cynthia Leding's Napa Valley project asks: what does a textbook Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon taste like? What would you show someone if you wanted to teach them what the appellation does?
The answer, according to Textbook, involves proper site selection, careful farming, and winemaking that reveals rather than obscures the Napa Valley origin. The estate produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from carefully sourced Napa Valley fruit — wines that aim to be exactly what the label says: the teaching example, the reference point.
Wine Advocate has scored Textbook's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at 90–93 points, confirming that the textbook aspiration translates into genuinely instructive, well-made wines.
