About The Lenz Winery

Lenz is Peconic's old-vine argument: among the fork's earliest estates, its mature Merlot and Cabernet Franc plantings, some of Long Island's oldest, yield structured, age-worthy reds and a methode champenoise program with a devoted following.

Blind-tasting victories against Bordeaux names built the house legend. The fork's quiet classicist.

Founded in 1978, Lenz is Long Island’s second-oldest winery and one of its most consistent, owned by Peter and Deborah Carroll since 1988 with remarkable continuity: a single vineyard manager, Sam McCullough, and just two winemakers in its history - Eric Fry for three decades, then his longtime assistant Thomas Spotteck from 2018. The house style holds red wines back four to five years before release, and the aromatic Alsatian whites, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris, are a signature.
