About Toccata
Toccata is the Italian soul of Lucas and Lewellen, the estate partnership of pioneering grower Louis Lucas and retired judge Royce Lewellen, whose 400 acres across the Santa Maria, Los Alamos and Santa Ynez valleys have supplied California wineries since the 1970s. Formerly known as Mandolina, the label devotes itself to estate-grown Italian varieties from the family's Los Alamos vineyard.
The list reads like an Italian wine tour: Pinot Grigio, Barbera, Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo, Moscato and the sweetly soft Malvasia Bianca, plus a sparkling Rosato and the flagship Toccata Riserva, a super-Tuscan-styled blend, all sustainably farmed and handcrafted by the family winery.
The tasting room brings warm Tuscan ambiance to Copenhagen Drive in the heart of Danish-themed Solvang, doubling as an old-world marketplace of gourmet foods and Italian decor. It is open daily with no reservation required, an easy walk-in dose of la dolce vita, with the sibling Lucas and Lewellen tasting room pouring the French-variety side of the family directly across the street.
