About Torrin Vineyard
Torrin, Gaelic for of the hills, is the family label of Scott and Viquel Hawley, begun with a planting contract and unwavering optimism in 2002 and realized with the 2006 vintage, under 300 cases made in the Booker barrel room on land that was originally part of the Booker Vineyard itself, wedged between L'Aventure and Booker in the Willow Creek District. Hawley arrived in Paso in 2000 to make wine at scale for a large producer and became the region's go-to consultant instead, helping launch Law Estate, Alta Colina, Caliza and Jada while mentoring a generation that includes the founders of Ranchero, Nicora, Emercy, Hubba and Kaleidos.
The house cuvees, Grenache-led Maven, Syrah-driven Akasha and the GSM Banshee, drew fruit from the estate and the fabled James Berry Vineyard, earning Jeb Dunnuck's praise as singular wines that could come from nowhere else. In 2018 the Hawleys finally gave Torrin its own home, a modern winery on Peachy Canyon Road, where production runs a bit over 2,000 cases alongside the Lagom sister label of cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County sites. Appointment tastings pour daily in the contemporary tasting room.
Torrin is Scott Hawley’s personal label, started in 2006 by one of Paso’s most respected consultants and mentors. Tastings are capped at four guests at a time - intimate and informative - and pour both Torrin and Lagom, his tiny-batch Chardonnay and Pinot Noir project.
