Geneva Wine Country
The hub of Ohio's Grand River Valley, a wine country of covered bridges and lakeshore vineyards beside the historic Geneva-on-the-Lake resort.
About Geneva Wine Country
Geneva sits at the center of the Grand River Valley AVA in Ashtabula County, the quality heart of Ohio wine country along the Lake Erie shore. Just a few miles from the historic Geneva-on-the-Lake resort strip, the town combines a long agritourism tradition with a serious, still-growing wine scene.
Lake Erie is the region's great asset: its thermal mass moderates winter cold and extends the growing season, letting producers ripen Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir alongside hardy hybrids. Wineries like Ferrante, South River, Laurello, and M Cellars have raised the area's profile, and the surrounding countryside of covered bridges and vineyards makes for a scenic, welcoming wine escape from Cleveland.
