About Lawrenceburg Wine Country

Lawrenceburg occupies a unique spot in American beverage history. An Ohio River town where large-scale distilling (MGP Ingredients) and small-batch winemaking coexist. Rising Sons Winery and At The Barn Winery bring Indiana wine to the southeastern corner of the state, just 30 minutes from Cincinnati.

The Ohio River Valley here was one of America's original wine regions. Nicholas Longworth's famous sparkling Catawba wines were produced just downstream in Cincinnati in the 1830s and 1840s, and the hillside microclimates along the river still support viticulture today.

For visitors, Lawrenceburg offers a compact wine experience with river views, plus easy access to Cincinnati's dining and cultural scene. The nearby Whitewater Valley's rolling terrain and protected hollows create growing conditions that benefit the local producers, and the town's distilling heritage adds another layer to the beverage tourism story.
