About Turiya Wines
Turiya Wines is an ultra-boutique, red-only winery in Lompoc, in Santa Barbara County on California's Central Coast, founded by owner and winemaker Angela Soleno. The name Turiya refers to a state of consciousness in which reality and truth are harmonious, and Soleno made her first vintage in 2008 as a true garagiste, doing every step by hand.
Soleno specializes in classic Bordeaux-style reds - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec - along with the occasional Syrah or Sangiovese and signature blends such as Perpetual Bliss. Production is tiny, only a few hundred cases a year with many releases under 100 cases, so that each barrel and fermenter can receive her personal attention. Fruit is sourced from acclaimed Central Coast vineyards in both the Santa Ynez Valley, such as Camp 4 and Stolpman, and further north in the Paso Robles AVA, including Amivida and Solana.
Turiya does not run a conventional storefront tasting room; instead Soleno hosts intimate, by-appointment barrel tastings at her Lompoc winery space, walking guests through how the wines evolve with age. Because production is so limited, purchasing is offered first through the allocation list, so it is best to book an appointment and confirm details directly with the winery.
