About Verdad Wines
Verdad is Louisa Sawyer Lindquist's Spanish-variety project: Albarino and Tempranillo grown in Santa Barbara and Edna Valley soils, farmed organically and made with the conviction that California's central coast is Iberia's climatic cousin. The label long shared cellar space with Qupe, the Rhone house of her husband Bob Lindquist.
Her Albarinos in particular helped establish the grape in California, bright, saline whites that predated the trend. Verdad means truth; the wines argue it.
