About Varner Wine
Twin brothers Bob and Jim Varner made some of California's most quietly revered Chardonnay from their Spring Ridge Vineyard in Portola Valley, block-designated bottlings, Amphitheater, Bee and Home blocks, that critics ranked with the state's best while the brothers kept prices bafflingly fair. Their Foxglove label carried the same value ethic statewide.
The Varner style, precise, unshowy, age-worthy, earned a devoted following that never matched the wines' fame-to-quality gap. Connoisseurs' Chardonnay, twin-made.
