About Venge Vineyards
The Venge family's Napa Valley roots trace to the 1950s, when Kirk Venge's grandfather founded Vencom Imports, a wine and spirits importing business in Los Angeles. Kirk's father, Nils Venge, studied viticulture at UC Davis and became one of Napa's most decorated winemakers, crafting the 1985 Groth Vineyards Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon that became the first Napa Valley wine to earn a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker.
Kirk Venge, born and raised in Rutherford, bought a 12.5-acre Calistoga vineyard beneath the Palisades in 2008 after acquiring the Venge Vineyards brand from his father, completing the winery just two years later. The estate survived a close call during the 2020 Glass Fire, and Kirk continues to run it as a family business alongside his father's nearby Saddleback Cellars.
