About Vidovich Vineyards
Vidovich Vineyards sits on top of the world at the summit of Montebello Road - 2,450 feet up in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Cupertino, with panoramic valley views running from San Francisco to San Jose and beyond. The family-owned and operated winery farms two sites: the high Montebello Road estate and a vineyard in the Los Altos Hills, both hand-picked each year.
The focus is Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel made in a low-intervention style that lets each site speak. And Montebello Road has plenty to say: Arctic-born Pacific currents moderate the Mediterranean climate, high-elevation days run warmer and nights cooler than the valley floor, and the San Andreas Fault's ancient uplift left sea-floor limestone, shale, and sandstone underfoot - the geology that made this ridge one of the most renowned Cabernet addresses in the Americas.
The tasting room opens Thursday through Sunday, 12 to 5, with reservations strongly recommended - a booking guarantees a 90-minute table with the friendly, knowledgeable staff, while walk-ins fit as space allows and parties over six should reserve (groups up to 20 at management's discretion). The $35 tasting fee is waived with the purchase of two bottles, and the vibe is genuinely welcoming: children and well-behaved dogs are invited, and guests are encouraged to bring their own snacks or a picnic lunch for the view. Call (408) 642-0555 to book.
