About Wahle Vineyards & Cellars
Wahle Vineyards & Cellars draws on one of the Willamette Valley's pioneering vineyard sites, first planted in 1974 in what is now the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. The family's deep roots in the region give its wines a sense of place earned over half a century of grape-growing in the North Willamette hills.
Owner-winemaker Mark Wahle, who by trade is an emergency-room physician, planted the Holmes Hill vineyard in 1999, the source of his elegant, age-worthy Holmes Hill Pinot Noir. The wines emphasize restraint and length, hallmarks of cool-climate Oregon Pinot Noir grown on the marine-sedimentary soils that define Yamhill-Carlton.
Wahle is one of the vintners poured at The Carlton Winemakers Studio in downtown Carlton, the collaborative, LEED-certified facility where visitors can taste its Pinot Noir alongside a rotating roster of small Willamette Valley producers, open daily with no reservations required.
