About Waylan Wine Co
Waylan began at 30,000 feet, when brothers Brad and Greg Saarloos scribbled a business plan on the back of a SkyMall catalog in January 2015. The name splices their middle names, WAYne and aLAN, and the label is exactly that: a collaboration between two brothers, now joined by their cousin Zach, each chasing his own corner of the wine business.
The wines are small-lot and handmade, learned from years of doing every odd job the industry offers, from vineyard rows to cellar floors. Flights typically pour six recent releases spanning whites like a well-loved Chenin Blanc through a rotating cast of reds, plus experimental workshop wines for the curious.
The tasting room on Grand Avenue in Los Olivos runs Thursday through Monday, and the motto is the experience: come hang out with us. Walk-ins are genuinely welcome with indoor and outdoor seating, reservations are only requested for groups of six or more, and odds are good a Saarloos is pouring.
