About Wild Diamond Vineyards

Wild Diamond Vineyards sits at the apex of Red Mountain's southwestern foothills, 2,200 feet up on Spruce Grove Road, where a hilltop tasting village looks out over some of the biggest views in Lake County wine. The family's shorthand for the site is "220 at 2,200": type-220 red volcanic soils at 2,200 feet elevation, a combination that stresses the vines into thick-skinned, concentrated fruit with a long, frost-free growing season.

The estate farms Bordeaux, Rhone and old-world varieties across three labels: Wild Diamond for the flagship wines, Dumb Luck for its more playful side, and Moon Tears for old-world whites beginning with Albarino. The style aims squarely at full-bodied, age-worthy reds, and critics have followed, with Wine Enthusiast scores reaching 95 points for the Cabernet Sauvignon and 94 for Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Visits run Thursday through Monday with tastings at $30, complimentary for club members, first seating at 10:30am and the last at 4:30pm, stretching to 5:30pm on Friday and Saturday for sunset hours. Reservations are welcomed and walk-ins accommodated; guests must be 21 or older, dogs are welcome outdoors on leash, and picnickers can bring their own food for the outside tables. EV charging is available on site.

220 at 2,200Red volcanic soil at serious elevation produces the thick-skinned, structured fruit behind the estate's biggest reds.
Critic-backed lineupWine Enthusiast scores of 95 for Cabernet Sauvignon and 94 for Merlot and Cabernet Franc back up the mountain terroir.
Sunset seatingsFriday and Saturday tastings run late so the last pour lands as the light goes gold over the foothills.
Three-label rangeFlagship Wild Diamond, playful Dumb Luck and old-world Moon Tears, whose Albarino leads the white program.
"Lake County's biggest-view tasting, where 2,200-foot volcanic vineyards deliver the scores and the sunsets deliver the memory."
