Yountville Wineries: Napa's Walkable Village (2026 Guide)

Stroll-and-sip tasting rooms and Napa's best food, all on foot. Updated for 2026.

Yountville is Napa Valley's most walkable village, a compact, elegant town in the middle of the valley that packs an astonishing amount of food and wine into a few blocks. It is the culinary capital of Napa, home to Thomas Keller's The French Laundry and a cluster of celebrated restaurants, and its main street is lined with tasting rooms you can stroll between, no car required. For visitors who want to pair serious wine with great food and leave the driving behind, there is no better base.

Below are the Yountville wineries and tasting rooms we think best capture the village, from the sparkling house on its edge to the walkable salons along Washington Street, plus a couple of excellent estates just outside town. We have leaned toward places you can reach on foot or with a very short hop. These are seated, mostly by-appointment experiences; reserve ahead. Current as of October 2026.

How to choose

Planning your visit

Yountville's magic is that you can leave the car parked and walk: base yourself in or near the village, stroll between the Washington Street tasting rooms, and book a long lunch or dinner in between, this is the one Napa town built for a car-free wine day. Reserve your tastings and, crucially, your restaurants well ahead, Yountville's dining books out further than almost anywhere in the valley, The French Laundry especially. Keep the pace relaxed: two or three tastings with a proper meal between them is the whole point here. For the estates just outside town, a quick rideshare keeps the day car-free. Parking in the village is limited on busy weekends, which is one more reason to settle in and walk rather than hop in and out of the car. Spring and fall bring the best weather for strolling, and mid-week is calmer than weekends.

What to avoid

Do not plan a Yountville day without locking in restaurant reservations first; the dining is the main event and books out early. Do not try to drive between every stop, the village is made for walking, so use it. And do not cram the day; Yountville rewards a slow, food-and-wine rhythm, not a tasting marathon. Finally, do not overlook the village itself between tastings, its shops, galleries, and gardens are part of the stroll, and leaving time to wander is what separates a Yountville day from a standard tasting tour.
