About Handwritten Wines
Handwritten Wines was founded in 2009 in Yountville as the sister label of Jessup Cellars, owned by the same six founding couples. Rather than farming a single estate, Handwritten sources Cabernet Sauvignon and other varietals from 15-plus Napa Valley appellations, including Calistoga, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, Oakville, and Stags Leap District, bottling many as single-appellation releases.
Winemaking is currently led by Andrew Wright, who spent eight vintages at Harlan Estate, BOND, Promontory, and Napa Valley Reserve before heading winemaking at Merryvale Vineyards from 2019; he succeeded earlier winemaker Rob Lloyd, who has since started his own label. The winery has been Napa Green certified since June 2019 and pours by appointment at its SOYO House tasting space in Yountville, opened in January 2020.
