About Arietta Wine
Arietta began in 1996 as a partnership between winemaker John Kongsgaard and his wife Maggy and Fritz and Caren Hatton, united by a shared passion for fine wine and classical music, the label reproduces the manuscript of the Arietta movement from Beethoven's final piano sonata, Opus 111. The Hattons became sole proprietors in 2005, the year Andy Erickson took over winemaking from Kongsgaard.
There is no showpiece estate: Arietta buys fruit from carefully chosen blocks in cooler corners of Napa Valley, Hudson Ranch in Carneros, Coombsville, Howell Mountain, and its flagship H Block comes from a single 2.3-acre Cabernet Franc parcel at Hudson. Six wines make up the portfolio, five reds and one white, and since around 2018 the winery has made its home and hosted its tastings at Hudson Vineyards.
