About Azur Wines
Azur is the project of Elan Fayard, a Bay Area native who studied wine in Bordeaux and Provence before settling in Napa Valley; the first vintage arrived in 2009, and Fayard is now sole proprietor. The flagship is a Provençal-method rosé picked early to preserve acidity, a wine the winery notes was recognized by Vogue among the world's finest, made alongside Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The range runs beyond pink. Single-vineyard, single-varietal wines from McGah Vineyard and Pritchard Hill appear under the sister label Empreinte, while production per wine typically stays in the several-hundred-case range. In 2012 Fayard and partners bought a 12-acre Coombsville property with five planted acres, completing an 11,500-square-foot cave in 2015, and in July 2023 Azur opened a wine lounge on Clinton Street in downtown Napa.
