About B.R. Cohn Winery
B.R. Cohn Winery is one of the most unusual origin stories in California wine. Bruce Cohn, who managed the Doobie Brothers for over 40 years, purchased the Olive Hill Estate in Glen Ellen in 1974, initially drawn to the property's extraordinary 140-year-old olive trees. He planted Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in 1975 and produced his first vintage in 1984.
The winery's estate Olive Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, from the home vineyard surrounding those ancient olive trees, has become one of Sonoma Valley's most consistent award-winning Cabernets. The estate olive oil, produced from the same century-old trees, is equally celebrated and sold alongside the wines.
The Glen Ellen property is genuinely charming: a working farm with cattle, ancient olive trees, estate vineyards, and a music legacy that manifests in an annual charity concert series that has featured legendary performers. Sonoma Magazine specifically highlights B.R. Cohn as a good stop for food packages from the estate kitchen.
At its Glen Ellen, Sonoma County location, B.R. Cohn Winery presents a featured lineup that includes Olive Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Estate Olive Oil. Together, these bottles provide a focused introduction to the varieties, vineyard sources, and style that define the winery's current portfolio.
