About BACA Wines
BACA Wines is the Zinfandel-focused label of Jennifer Brown, a third-generation vintner and daughter of Kathryn Walt Hall of HALL Family Wines. Brown launched BACA in 2018, taking its name from the Latin word for berry, around a single conviction: that Zinfandel, California's signature grape, deserves the same luxury, small-lot treatment usually reserved for Cabernet. Winemaker Alison Frichtl crafts the wines in small lots from old-vine and heritage vineyards across the state, from Rockpile and Dry Creek to Calistoga, Howell Mountain, the Russian River Valley and Paso Robles.
The tasting room sits just off Westside Road near the Healdsburg square, with panoramic vineyard views and a serious collection of artwork on the walls. Because BACA is part of the HALL family portfolio, a visit can range beyond the Zinfandels to include WALT Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and HALL Cabernet.
The experiences lean playful. Alongside standard flights, BACA runs a competitive flavor-matching tasting game, wine-and-chocolate pairings with a local chocolatier, and a vineyard-side patio set up for picnics. Open Wednesday through Sunday, reservations recommended and walk-ins welcome, it is a relaxed, upbeat stop rather than a hushed one.
