About Barrel 27 Wine Company
Barrel 27 was launched in 2003 by two of Paso's now-famous names, McPrice Myers and Russell From, as a value-driven Rhone label in the years before Myers's eponymous winery and From's Herman Story became regional stars. The brand built its following on honest, affordable Syrah, Grenache and blends with irreverent names.
The founders' paths later diverged into their own celebrated labels, and Barrel 27's ownership and production have evolved since; we note the brand's status is best confirmed directly. Its legacy is secure either way: a launching pad for two of the Central Coast's defining Rhone winemakers. For students of modern Paso, the label remains a footnote worth knowing: the proving ground where two of the region's defining Rhone careers first learned to stretch a dollar into a score.
