About Bordes Wines
Bordes Wines is an off-the-grid, family-run vineyard tucked at the end of Champlin Creek Lane in Sonoma, on a 24-acre hillside ranch. What began as a family making wine in their garage, following decades of family sparkling-wine production over in Napa, has grown into a small, personal estate where the tasting space sits right among the vines. Family members pour the wines themselves and walk guests through the farming and winemaking story, and the whole experience is intentionally intimate and, in the best way, unpolished.
The winemaking is handled by Rachel Bordes, a Cal Poly viticulture graduate who also works as an assistant winemaker at Ram's Gate. The estate focuses on cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from its hillside Champlin Creek vineyard, where warm days, cool nights, afternoon breezes and morning fog give the wines an earthy, Burgundian lean. Production is deliberately tiny, under 500 cases, made with a low-intervention hand, and a solera-style estate sparkling continues a family tradition reaching back to the early 1980s.
Visits are personal and by arrangement, poured in the vineyard under open skies rather than in a polished tasting bar.
