About Bowman Cellars
Bowman Cellars is a husband-and-wife boutique winery in the heart of downtown Graton, on the western, Russian River Valley side of Sonoma County. Alex and Katie Bowman, Alex a fifth-generation Northern Californian who serves as proprietor and winemaker, founded the label in 2013 and opened their Graton tasting room in 2018, aiming to be what they call the new generation of wine tasting: approachable, food-forward and fun.
The wines span several of Sonoma's and California's best appellations rather than a single estate. Bowman makes Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc from the family's own vineyard in west Santa Rosa, and a Sierra Foothills estate Zinfandel, all in small, award-winning lots farmed with sustainable practices.
The tasting room is relaxed and design-forward, with a cozy interior and a large outdoor patio, and food is part of the point: expect cheese boards with seated tastings, a weekend food truck, winemaker lunches and a monthly smash-burger happy hour. It is open Thursday through Sunday, an easy, unfussy stop on the West County wine trail.
