About Caliza Winery
Caliza is a small, hands-on husband-and-wife estate in the Willow Creek District of west Paso Robles, where Carl and Pam Bowker planted their hillside vineyard in 2005. The name is Spanish for limestone, a nod to the soils they sought out, and after a trip to the Rhone Valley, Carl set out to make old-world-styled wine in the new world: deep Syrah, Grenache-based blends, and Viognier-driven whites, shaped by the big day-to-night temperature swings of the Templeton Gap.
Tastings happen on the patio among the estate vines, often poured by Carl himself, and the lineup rewards curiosity, from the GSM blend Azimuth to the Syrah-driven Cohort and a standout Viognier. Add pet-friendly grounds, a picnic area, lawn games, and Burger Sundays with gourmet burgers and live music, and it makes for an easy, personal Paso afternoon.
