About CAMi Vineyards
CAMi Vineyards traces to a small estate vineyard purchased by Laurie and Tom Shelton around 2000, on land previously farmed by grower Paul Saviez. Tom, a wine-industry executive who had served as president and CEO of Joseph Phelps Vineyards, died before the winery released its first vintage in 2013; the label and its name, drawn from the couple's daughter Camille, emerged in the spirit of honoring his memory.
The roughly 2.5-acre estate vineyard is split between Cabernet Sauvignon (Silverado Vineyards clone 337) and Merlot (Three Palms Vineyard cuttings), farmed by Piña Vineyard Management and vinified by winemaker John Giannini since 2014, with heavy new-French-oak barrel fermentation and no fining or filtration. Annual production is typically under 200 cases of the flagship red blend, poured at a downtown Calistoga tasting room that doubles as a gallery for Laurie Shelton's paintings.
