About Dark Star Cellars
Dark Star is the Benson family's small westside winery on Anderson Road, founded in the 1990s and long run by winemaker Norm Benson with a focus on handcrafted Bordeaux-style reds, most famously the Ricordati blend. The name honors a dark star's quiet gravity rather than any rock lyric, and the operation has stayed deliberately family-scale.
The wines earned a shelf of competition medals over the decades while the tasting room kept its unpolished, welcoming west-side character. Dark Star remains a reminder of the family-garage era that built Paso's reputation before the estates arrived.
