About Derby Wine Estates

Derby Wine Estates offers one of Paso Robles' most memorable settings: a beautifully restored 1922 landmark, the old Almond Growers Exchange, on the edge of downtown. Ray and Pam Derby, who came to the Central Coast to retire and instead fell into winegrowing, spent four years restoring the historic reinforced-concrete building, now Paso's tallest, and opened it as their winery and tasting room in 2014.

The wines draw on three estate vineyards in three distinct terroirs: cool-coastal Derbyshire near San Simeon for Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, the Templeton Gap Derby Vineyard for Rhone varieties, and Laura's Vineyard on the east side for Bordeaux reds. Tastings and free building tours run daily, and the standout is the Elevated Experience in the tower's library lounge, with 360-degree views over the town, hills, and vineyards.
