About Either Oar Wine, Whiskey & Cheese Bar
Either Oar occupies the site on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake that operated for years as Penguin Bay Winery, which itself took over the former Finger Lakes Champagne House. The Martin family, who also run Anthony Road, took the property on and reopened it under the new name.
The format is deliberately not a conventional tasting room. Instead of standing at a bar working through a flight, guests are seated for a more relaxed sitting: wine and cheese pairing flights in dry or sweet versions, a wine flight on its own, or a specialty whiskey cocktail. The name is the joke, since you can choose either.
Visiting
Open daily, generally 10am to 5pm with a later close on Fridays. Groups are welcome at any size, but reservations are required for parties of twelve or more, which can be arranged by phone on (607) 546-5115.
Either Oar Wine, Whiskey & Cheese Bar is a member of the Canandaigua Lake Wine Trail, which links wineries from Victor down through Canandaigua to Naples.
