About Ellman Family Vineyards
Ellman Family Vineyards was founded in 2007 by South African-born brothers Neil and Lance Ellman, alongside their parents Leon and Elaine Ellman, as a legacy project after the family built and sold mattress companies Softex and Sherwood Bedding. They planted a 20-acre estate vineyard on Soda Canyon Road, on land that was once part of the 1841 Rancho Yajome land grant and still has a 1906 water tower and a converted schoolhouse on site.
Winemaker Andy Erickson, known for his work at Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle and his own Favia label, makes Ellman's Cabernet Sauvignon-focused portfolio. After years pouring from a downtown Napa tasting salon that has since closed, the family opened a dedicated estate winery and hospitality building on the Soda Canyon property in spring 2025.
Ellman's Cabernet Sauvignon is made by Andy Erickson, the winemaker behind Screaming Eagle, Dalla Valle and his own Favia label.
