Epoch Estate Wines at 7505 York Mountain Road occupies one of California's most historically significant and geologically distinctive wine estates, the York Mountain property in the York Mountain AVA, San Luis Obispo County's oldest wine-producing area with a history of viticulture stretching back to 1882. Founded in 2005 by Jordan and Liz Fiorentini, Epoch has invested extraordinary energy in restoring and organically farming the ancient vineyard blocks that make this mountain site irreplaceable.
The York Mountain location at elevations between 1,400 and 1,600 feet on decomposed granite and limestone soils, with marine influence from Morro Bay moderating temperatures, creates growing conditions unlike anything in the broader Paso Robles appellation. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Tempranillo are the focus, producing wines of mineral complexity and structural depth that consistently surprise visitors expecting typical warm-climate Central Coast wines.
Tastings are by appointment only at $50, emphasizing the historic York Mountain context and organic farming philosophy.
