Closed — Vineyard Replanting
Herb Lamb Vineyards' St. Helena tasting room is no longer operating. Colgin Cellars long sourced this Howell Mountain-adjacent estate's Cabernet Sauvignon for an acclaimed single-vineyard bottling, but Napa Wine Project lists its review as archived and Yelp marks the business closed following founder Herb Lamb's 2014 death. The winery's own site now describes an in-progress vineyard replanting rather than open tastings. This profile is kept for reference.

About Herb Lamb Vineyards

Herb and Jennifer Lamb purchased this secluded hillside property just below the Howell Mountain appellation near St. Helena in 1987, planting just over 5 acres of vines in 1988 and releasing a first vintage of 50 cases in 1997. The north-east-facing site sits at roughly 800 feet elevation and benefits from cooling afternoon breezes off Sonoma County and the Pacific.

For years the vineyard's Cabernet Sauvignon fruit was sourced by Colgin Cellars for an acclaimed single-vineyard bottling, alongside the estate's own HL and Two Old Dogs labels made with longtime winemaker Mike Trujillo. Herb Lamb died in late 2014, and both the Napa Wine Project (which lists its review as archived, with a last vintage around 2016) and Yelp (which lists the business as closed) indicate the St. Helena tasting room on Fulton Lane is no longer operating; the winery's own site now describes an in-progress vineyard 'reincarnation', replanting, terracing, and biochar work on young vines, rather than an active visitor program.

Colgin Cellars sourced its acclaimed single-vineyard Cabernet from Herb Lamb Vineyards for years, but the St. Helena estate's tasting room has been closed since Herb Lamb's 2014 death.
