About Hertelendy Vineyards
Hertelendy Vineyards was founded by proprietor Ralph Hertelendy, with an inaugural 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon that scored 95 points from Robert Parker. The name honors Ralph's great-uncle, who produced wine in Badacsony, Hungary, near Lake Balaton; Ralph's parents fled Hungary for the Bay Area during World War II.
The estate vineyard, Rockwell Ridge, is a small mountainside planting (originally set to Merlot in 1993) in the Crystal Springs of Napa Valley AVA, an appellation approved in October 2024 that sits just below the Howell Mountain boundary at elevations from roughly 400 to 1,400 feet. Consulting winemaker Phillip Titus (formerly of Chappellet and Titus Vineyards) also sources fruit from Atlas Peak, Coombsville, Silverado Bench and Russian River Valley for a roughly 1,000 to 1,200-case annual production spread across Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and proprietary blends.
Hertelendy's Rockwell Ridge estate sits in Crystal Springs of Napa Valley, an AVA approved only in October 2024, not the Spring Mountain District.
