About Hendry Ranch Wines
Hendry Ranch was established in 1939 by George W. and Margaret Hendry in the low hills northwest of the town of Napa, at the foot of Mt. Veeder -- the family is marking over 85 years of continuous farming on the 114-acre estate. The ranch's substantial marine influence lets it grow a dozen different grape varieties, from heirloom Zinfandel and Primitivo blocks to Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The operation remains, in the words of sommelier Kelli White, 'firmly in family hands,' with winemaker Mike Hendry leading guided tastings and vineyard hikes himself. The San Francisco Chronicle has praised the winery's front-porch tastings as striking 'the perfect balance of casual and informative,' and Hendry champions 'good wine at a fair price' as a counterpoint to pricier Napa neighbors.
